Description

The soldiers of Battery B First Rhode Island Light Artillery were ordinary people who found themselves living during the extraordinary time of the Civil War. Each one of them risked their lives to save the Union. But these volunteers were more than soldiers. They were fathers, sons, brothers, husbands, and friends. Some survived the great conflict while others never returned home to their families and farms. Meet these soldiers up close through photographs and letters and learn who they were as individuals. Each one has a story to tell. Their stories, filled with love, longing and loss, reflect their true humanity. Each chapter is dedicated to a soldier and contains historical photos, documents and primary sources.
