Our box plate is designed for use in 1865 or after, is lead-filled stamped brass with 2 loops on back and a leather thong for attaching to the cartridge box. Although not mentioned in Army Regulations, box plates were mentioned in various Ordnance Manuals of the period and are one of the most best-known Civil War artifacts.
