Approximately 2″ in length, you’ll find that this black tea is specific to the Civil War and will warm you on those cold mornings in camp. For one pint of tea, grate one-half teaspoon of tea from the block. Bring one cup (8 oz.) of water to a rolling boil and remove from heat.  Stir in the grated tea into the water.  Return to heat and slowly bring it to a boil. Slowly boil tea for about five minutes.  Remove from heat and pour in one cup of cool water. The tea grounds will settle to the bottom and the tea is ready to drink. Pour the tea and add milk, sugar, honey, or lemon to taste.
